Yep, back on the diet cola.
I swear, it's like a drug. One swig and I'm hooked.
Okay, here's the rationalization part of the post. I had been doing really well off the diet cola, but I had gotten into a bad habit of substituting wine for the soda in the evenings. Not a good idea if you want to lose weight.
I am a big believer in taking a bath after the kids go to bed. Those Calgon ads were more accurate than they knew. And I like to do it up. I like to have the bubbles, a book and a drink. It used to be that I would take a soda in with me. Not romantic, but a cool drink and a hot bath are a nice combo. But after I stopped drinking soda I started bringing in a nice glass of wine. Nothing wrong with that right? And if I stopped at one glass that would probably be the case. But I always have to have one more when I get out-- you know, to wind down and all.
Those wine calories add up.
Sooooooo. I bought a litre of soda, just to have a bath time. And I hate to say it. But it's been a good thing for me. I've lost weight and probably two inches off my waist in the last two weeks. I must've been drinking more wine than I realized. Gosh, I'm a lush.
So here I am. Back on the soda, but off the wine.
But all may not be lost. I hear Diet Coke is going to start using Stevia instead of Splenda or Aspartame. That should be better, right? I hope so. I've actually had the Diet Coke with Stevia before when I was in Japan and it's tons better than what we have now.
I hope Diet Coke switches over. I'd like to feel a little less guilty.

I too like a nice drink in a hot bath. After that unfortunate incident mixing lighter fluid and petrol, I've decided to go back to gin...
I think the key to kicking any habit is to understand why you do it, and for your coke addiction, it's clear that it's how you reward yourself after a long, hard day - nothing wrong with that, it's a laudable practice. So maybe you could find another way of rewarding yourself - say getting hubby to massage your feet when you get out of the bath!!

Yeah, it's the stopping after one glass that trips me up with wine too.
Is it just Coke that's going to switch to Stevia, or will Pepsi do it too, do you know?
Steve
An unfortunate petrol incident? How does that happen?

Unfortunately my hubby would probably end wanting to reward himself and forget about the feet.

I've only heard that Coke is trying to switch to Stevia. But I bet if they did, Pepsi wouldn't be too far behind.
OMG, you are so much my woman! I was having an inferiority complex over your ability to get off the Diet Coke...as I have the addiction, too. But my night-time addiction is wine, of late more than one glass, and as I try to lose weight but don't, I know I need to lay off the wine.
But I don't want to.
Maybe you can be my inspiration on this one, too.

Trust me. You should never feel inferior to me. Ever.
I love diet soda. I could drink my liquid weight in diet dr pepper.

Me too. I progressively drink more and more.
I like Coke Zero myself, in all of its incarnations. I bring a 24-oz bottle with me to work, and sometimes I'll have a can of the vanilla with dinner. But I've had to cut out having it after that, because the sheer amount of caffeine I was drinking in a day was doing bad things to me.
It sucks because I've had to cut out raiding on WoW, but if it's better for me in the long run, I can live with that, I guess. :)
